Text: Ezekiel 41:1–26 (KJV)

DAILY MANNA FOR TODAY

The city of Dresden in Germany was bombed into ruins during World War II. In 1945, at the end of the hostilities, it was rubble—desolate and deserted. It was a shadow of its booming past. Many lamented that the German metropolis would never regain its glory, given the run-down economy of the nation at the time. But images of today’s Dresden, with its new buildings and restored historical landmarks, tell the story of a complete comeback.

About 600 years before the birth of Jesus, Jerusalem and its great temple lay in ruins after hordes of Chaldeans torched the city and exiled about 10,000 Jews to Babylon. As the people mourned, God revealed details of His plan to replace the temple with an ineffable structure, surpassing their imagination. Only Ezekiel was shown the vision of this proposed worship centre. It featured multi-level, wood-panelled gateways, outer and inner courts, and archways adorned with carvings of cherubim and palm trees on doors and walls. There were chambers designated for priests and singers, and ultimately, a place reserved for God Himself. The angel guiding Ezekiel declared, “This is the table that is before the LORD.”

God grants astounding restoration to those who entrust their lives to Him. He not only restores what is lost but also multiplies it abundantly. The temple vision symbolised the glorious dispensation that followers of Christ will experience in eternity. Christ is the true Temple in whom we shall dwell forever. As Scripture affirms, “We have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.”

Our deprivations and trials in this world should not drive us to despair; rather, they should remind us that God is preparing something far greater—eternal joy and glory that will never fade. Indeed, our Lord is turning our ruins into roses.
